Cathodic protection is an effective anti-corrosion scheme, which can prevent local corrosion and overall corrosion caused by uneven surface state of various steels. It can also improve the fatigue strength limit of steel piles in seawater. Regardless of the different surface conditions of steel piles, they are very suitable for new or existing steel piles. The protection effect can also be controlled by directly detecting the cathodic polarization potential of the steel surface. If designed and managed properly, the protection effect can reach more than 90%.
Coating plus cathodic protection: the coating is matched with cathodic protection and can complement each other. So the protection effect is better. For the steel surface with inherent coating, the required protection current density is small, and the protection potential tends to be uniform, which can reduce the corrosion that cathodic protection measures cannot keep up with at the initial stage of construction.
